Pensacola Stone Coated Steel Roofing— Classic beauty with durability, performance, and protection

Stone coated steel roofs are metal panels formed into shapes that replicate traditional roof materials (shingles, tile, wood shake, & slate), and then coated with stone chips for an amazingly natural appearance. The stone chips are bonded to the metal panels with an industrial grade epoxy, and baked in an oven for permanent adhesion. The manufacturers that we represent are so confident in their products, that they provide a 50-year transferrable warranty. This essentially makes them a permanent roof system for homeowners. Guardian Roofing has been selling and installing these roof systems for over 20 years.

Stone-coated steel roofing doesn’t attract lightning more than any other roofing material. Metal is a good conductor of electricity, but it doesn’t “draw” lightning. Lightning strikes the tallest object in an area, regardless of the material. If lightning does strike a stone-coated steel roof, the material will safely disperse the energy because it’s non-combustible and durable, reducing the risk of fire.

Stone-coated steel roofs do not create any more noise than traditional roofing materials. The stone coating itself can help dampen sound along the multiple forms in the metal compared to a traditional, flat metal panel. The overall noise level is also influenced by the installation method and type of construction. Most modern homes have plywood decking and attic space with insulation. These features have sound-deadening properties making the noise level comparable to other types of roofs. Old “tin” roofs on barns or porches aren’t usually supported by attics or insulation, so rain sounds louder on those metal roofs than it does on the metal roof of a house.
